You hadn't used the phone before. You were allowed, you assumed, but you didn't have a need. You had not spoken for a long time...

At school, you had heard a rumor...

"Did you hear? Ever since that big storm, there's this weird thing phones do, sometimes... it really works! I did it! When I picked up the phone, it was already ringing, placing a random call! Sometimes it's near, sometimes it's far... I heard it could even be another world... it's true! I swear!"

You eye the receiver.
